The Roger Carter Recreation Center is a central piece to the redevelopment of the historic Ellicot City multifamily residential development. The 46,000 sf facility will serve the community with an indoor/outdoor pool, childcare, climbing wall, meeting rooms, aerobics room, fitness area, walking track and outdoor landscaped areas. The owner and design team set the goal of making a splash when in comes to energy efficiency and LEED Certification. As part of this effort, SBP served the role of energy steward and provided the design team feedback regarding opportunities for improvement and comparison to requirements of ASHRAE 90.1-2007. SBP provided several iterations of this analysis and landed on on permit submission annual energy cost savings of 32% equating to (11) EA Credit 1 points for Optimized Energy Performance. This facility is scheduled for opening in the Spring of 2013.
