Ashburn Corporate Center building 6 (ACC6) is a LEED Silver Certified 26 MW critical load center in Northern Virginia. SBP provided the whole building comprehensive energy modeling services on this complex energy intensive project. SBP provided intermittent energy design assistance and feedback to the design team regarding different energy efficient technologies applicable to a large data center type facility. SBP helped to evaluate the whole building performance of this facility inclusive of (10) 1,200-ton premium efficiency centrifugal chillers with variable flow, high efficiency computer room air handling (CRAH) units with electrically commutated motors, and integrated flywheel UPS system.
SBP estimated that the Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) based on the modeled performance of ACC6. PUE is defined as the ratio of the total facility power to the total power drawing by IT equipment. The PUE is a metric Energy Star uses to weight the overall energy performance of data centers.
