BUILDING HIGHLIGHTS

The DDOT project is located in a LEED Certified Core and Shell building located at 250 M St SE, Washington DC. The goal of the project was to achieve LEED Gold and that was achieved through great teamwork and collaboration throughout the entire design and construction process.

Located at the corner of 2nd and M Streets SE, directly across from the US Department of Transportation building, 250 M Street is home to the DC Department of Transportation. DDOT is the sole tenant of the building; the property also includes a Commuter Store, a monitor wall to provide updates on DDOT projects/current traffic conditions, and a conference center that will be available for community use. The building is designed to LEED Gold status.

DDOT took occupancy in the nine-story, 188,000 square foot building in March 2021. Among the notable features of the building are: a custom paint-on-canvas art installation in DDOT’s lunchroom, designed and created by a local DC artist; reclaimed wood provided by DDOT’s Urban Forestry division used to make work tables in collaboration spaces throughout the building; a fitness center; wellness and mothers’ rooms, and a prayer/worship room; and unique wall and floor art adorning elevator waiting areas on the 2nd to 9th floors.
