The Mary Riley Styles Library project was a major renovation of a public library in Falls Church, VA. The library is 2 levels and the construction featured an addition and reorganization of the interior of the building.
Instead of constructing a brand new building, the team reused 78% of the original building to update the library. The project also encourages sustainable transportation to the library by providing bike parking and reducing the available parking lot from the standard. Health-wise, the project used low-emitting materials and conducted IAQ testing to ensure great air quality for the occupants and patrons of the library. Sustainable Building Partners provided LEED consulting and energy modeling services, helping guide the project team towards a LEED Silver certification.
